Thoughts
Time and space are mere constructs and perceptions. So are our bodies, minds and souls which are situated in these dimensions of time and space. The evening before — before what?
The evening before everything or nothing?
How much can you tell within three minutes? How much can you tell within three pages? Within three lines? Nothing, but simultaneously everything.
If a gun appears, there will be shot.
One line can tell everything.
In our story, the classical concept of the –24h equals one day– does not apply. The mornings and days are the souls journey through lifetimes. The nightfall is the breakout through the endless cycle of life and death — samsara. Therefore, the evening before the nightfall symbolizes the epiphany of a soul before enlightenment. The nightfall is enlightenment. As sentient human beings we know how mornings, days, perhaps evenings feel like, but we do not know night.
In The Evening Before, she approaches enlightenment.
Beijing has changed. Everything he touched has turned into grey ash that got blown away by the stifling summer wind.
Time is flying and so are we. It seeps through the holes of my soul.
Time creates holes in our space and our souls get torn apart in between. They are split into a million fragment and get carried away by the wind, the never ending wind – now my fragments live a life of their own.
What if only God is eternal? God, you are the string which holds everything together, life, death, and everything in between.”
